How to Find Your Court Date in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parishes
If you’ve been arrested or have criminal charges pending in southeast Louisiana, knowing when to appear in court is crucial. Missing a court date, even by accident, can result in a bench warrant, a revoked bond, or even worse consequences. Whether you’re dealing with a felony or misdemeanor, it’s your responsibility to keep up with your court dates. Here’s how to do that in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parishes.
Step 1: Know What Court You’re In
Criminal cases in these parishes go through the District Court, but each parish has its own courthouse and system:
- St. Tammany Parish: 22nd Judicial District Court (Covington) 701 N Columbia St, Covington, LA 70433
- Washington Parish: 22nd Judicial District Court (Franklinton) 1002 Main St, Franklinton, LA 70438
- Tangipahoa Parish: 21st Judicial District Court (Amite) 110 N Bay St #100, Amite City, LA 70422
- Livingston Parish: 21st Judicial District Court (Livingston) 28445 Charlie Watts Road, Livingston, LA 70754
The district number matters when you’re searching online, but so does the parish.
Step 2: Search Online (Where Available)
Here are some links and tips for checking your court date online:
St. Tammany & Washington Parishes (22nd JDC)
Visit: www.sttammanyclerk.org
Once there, go to the “Online Services” or “Court Records” section. You can search by name or case number. This portal includes court dates for both parishes.
Tangipahoa & Livingston Parishes (21st JDC)
Visit: www.21stjdc.org
You can view the docket or call the Clerk of Court in Amite (for Tangipahoa) or in Livingston. These dockets are sometimes published as PDFs by division.
Step 3: Call the Clerk of Court
If the website isn’t working or your name isn’t coming up, don’t guess — call the Clerk of Court’s Office directly:
- St. Tammany Clerk of Court (Covington): (985) 809-8700
- Washington Clerk of Court (Franklinton): (985) 839-4663
- Tangipahoa Clerk of Court (Amite): (985) 748-4146
- Livingston Clerk of Court (Livingston): (225) 686-2216
Be ready to give them your full name and date of birth. If you have a case number, even better.
Step 4: Ask Your Attorney
If you’ve hired a criminal defense attorney, they should have your upcoming court dates. Most defense lawyers track your case through the docket and can confirm not only the date but the time, courtroom, and what type of hearing it is (arraignment, motion hearing, trial, etc.).
If you don’t have an attorney, you should seriously consider getting one, especially if you’re unsure about where to go or what’s happening with your case. If you were criminally charged in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, or Livingston Parish, call our office at 985-276-4740 to speak with one of our attorneys.
Don’t Miss Court – Seriously
Judges in these parishes don’t take missed court appearances lightly. Even if you have a good excuse, the court may:
- Issue a bench warrant
- Revoke your bond
- Add new failure to appear charges
- Make it harder to negotiate a plea deal later
Bottom line: stay on top of your dates. Check regularly. Things can change – especially in multi-defendant cases or if the court resets the docket.
Final Tip: Mark It Down
When you find your date, write it down, set a calendar alert, and make sure your ride is lined up. Court isn’t like a regular appointment – showing up late can mean walking into a courtroom with a warrant already issued for your arrest.
